This is a travesty folks. Both the School Board and Park Board members
should be ashamed of themselves. Of all the parks in Minneapolis to
close-down, Peavey isn't one of them. The surrounding neighbors worked
very hard to stablize this park in a very fragile area.
From the Strib article reporting on the closing: "Park Commissioner Hauser
said she met with park officials earlier this year in an unsuccessful effort
to find a way to keep the gym open." --

Perhaps if CM Hauser had spent as much time and effort on preventing the
Peavey Park closure as she did on trying to secure the Stadium for De
LaSalle, the Park would still be open. I offer for exhibit CM Hauser's
letter to her constituents. In it she states how hard the worked on the De
LaSalle project. She follows with a p.s. urging anyone with questions about
De LaSalle to get in touch with her.

this heavy-handed letter to believe it.
The contrast in these situations says a lot about priorities AND influence.
Please remember instances like this when you vote -- whether for Park Board
or for a new City Council representative.
