This is in response to some info from Eva's earlier post [Mpls] So Called
"Green" Campaigns: Johnson Lee and Zimmermann
Eva, Im sure Don appreciates and thanks you for your vote.
I have heard other 5th ward voters also say that NJL's campaign is using Don's
attendance record as a reason to not vote for him. So I did some checking. All
I can say is people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
Since Don took office in February 2003, he has missed 7 council meetings, Of
those 7 absences 4 were for vigils (fulfilling a promise he made to his
constituents, some like it, some don't.) But Natalie has missed 6 meetings
herself. I wonder what Natalies reasons are. In fact Council members Johnson,
Colvin Roy and Schiff have missed the same or more than Don Samuels.
NJL always talks about looking at the record, well the record (available from
the City Clerks office) tells me that while Chair of the Health & Human
Services Committee, Natalie has missed 12 meetings. With only around 20 some
meetings a year, she has failed to chair almost 15% of the meetings held since
she took office. Natalie brags about the important work she does on Health &
Human Services, maybe she should have shown up more often.
As has been proven over and over in this campaign, just because Natalie says
something doesnt mean that its the truth."CHECK THE RECORD!!"
WCCO interviewed Don for the 10 oclock news tonight. I heard Natalie declined
to interview with them.
