Even better would be to have substantive stories in the newspaper and
on TV
and radio really talking about the issues instead of the 90 second
pablum we
are treated to before elections in most of the major media outlets.
At the
risk of sounding like a crazy person, I do believe that it is in the
interests of the ruling class, the haves, whatever you want to call
them, to
not let people know what really is at stake, and they control the
media. In
my mind, democracy and unfettered capitalism don't go together very well.

I've never understood why mandatory voting is a good idea. Can someone
