I have a big problem now. I changed the CCSID on the MVS side to 37. Now
when I send the data to the NT box and read it from the QUEUE the data does
not convert to ASCII. It used to convert when the CCSID was 500. I'm stumped
and in trouble. Any ideas?

You don't need to recreate the qmgr, but you do need to stop the qmgr and
change your system parameter and restart the qmgr. The process is described
in the System Setup Guide under "customizing your qmgr". I think it's the
CSQ6SYSP macro that has the CCSID, but I haven't actually done this myself.

You probably have the OS390 CCSID set to 500 when it should be 37.

Subject: CCSID problems

Hello everyone. I am having a small problem. We are sending messages from an
OS/390 mainframe to an NT MQseries box. The mainframe version of MQ is 5.3.
The NT version is 5.2.1 with the latest csd. The messages we sometimes send
from the mainframe have special characters such as an ! exclamation point or
a [ right bracket , a ] bracket or the | pipe character. These do not seem
to be translated correctly on the ascii NT side. Is there anyway that I can
get MQ to do the conversion to the correct character when the read is done?
Any help appreciated.
