I'm suggesting making this a new cfgmaker feature as it is asked so many times. The idea is that by default cfgmaker will check to see if 64 bit counters exist and if so use them. That way, the folks that don't read the documentation or research won't have this problem any more. Introduce a new cfgmaker 'knob' to turn this off if so desired.

Gokhan, By default MRTG uses 32bit counters. When using a 5 minute poll interval this 32bit counters equal to about 114Mbits/s. There are 2 ways to tackle this: 1. Poll more often. Polling each minute will lift the maximum to about 570Mbits/s 2. If your device supports the ifHC* counters you can use the 64bit counters. To use the 64bit counters you have to add ::::2 at the target line of your MRTG configuration.
