This could be the race condition between updates and viewing that can sometimes leave the last value as unknown. Does this still happen with the 'uselastupdate=yes' option set in the routers2.conf? Which version of routers2 are you using (the later versions should not have this issue)?
If your update occurs at 12:04:59 then any views between 12:00:00 and 12:04:59 will have the last data point as 'unknown' due to the normalisation effect. Routers2 attempts to compensate for this but may not always get it correct. The 'uselastupdate=yes' option get around this at the cost of having down devices show the live graphs based on their last 'up' time rather than the current time.
