Hi Paul,
Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I'm using rrdtool-1.4.2 mrtg-2.16.2
Everything is being created from scratch (new). I set up an mrtg.cfg file
for a router, and ran mrtg against the cfg for the first time. MRTG created
the rrd databases for the interfaces. The rrd databases created have a
heartbeat of 600 and step of 60. My question is, should the heartbeat be
less?
Here is a dump of the first part of the database definition.
<rrd>
<version>0003</version>
<step>60</step> <!-- Seconds -->
<lastupdate>1259955934</lastupdate> <!-- 2009-12-04 13:45:34 CST -->
<ds>
<name> ds0 </name>
<type> COUNTER </type>
<minimal_heartbeat>600</minimal_heartbeat>
<min>0.0000000000e+00</min>
<max>1.2500000000e+08</max>
Thanks,
Gene
