It's called normalization.  MRTG is interpreting the number because
the time of the poll is not exact.
 
Yes, it happens to all of us.  You might not want it, but it's a necessary
component for doing high-volume traffic reading.  It also might be that
you should be using another option like gauge or something.

When MRTG polls ( 5 minute interval ) it is displaying the ‘current’ record as a number with a decimal.  The item being polled is a hard number, no decimal.  I do not understand why it adding a decimal, or from where it is getting that number. 

 

Has anyone run into this before?
