Im in the process of updating our network monitor.. Moving the entire system to mrtg 2.16.x and rrdtool based logs.
I'm polling 5k+ devices in this new system.. I have some targets that will eval to no data (ie a switch port that no one has used as of yet) My mrtg.log is littered with the below messages. --- mrtg.log clip ---- 2010-03-17 11:36:11 -- SNMPGET Problem for ifHCInOctets.201 ifHCOutOctets.201 on [email protected]:::::2::v4only at /usr/bin/mrtg line 2035 2010-03-17 11:36:11 -- Wednesday, 17 March 2010 at 11:30: WARNING: skipping because at least the query for ifHCInOctets.201 on switch.our.net did not succeed 2010-03-17 11:36:11 -- Wednesday, 17 March 2010 at 11:30: WARNING: no data for ifHCInOctets&ifHCOutOctets:[email protected]. Skipping further queries for Host switch.our.net in this round. 2010-03-17 11:36:13 -- SNMP Error: no response received ------------------- Are these the result of polls that return no data? Or is this a bad Target line? Also is this indicating that it will skip polling the remainder of the entire switch (the next N ports) or just the port that this warning was thrown. Any help appreciated .. I'm still trying to make heads or tails of this particular "WARNING". ------ thanks kevin.foote _______________________________________________ mrtg mailing list [email protected] https://lists.oetiker.ch/cgi-bin/listinfo/mrtg
