Hi Chris,
Yes there is an existing ticket about this (
https://ms4w.com/trac/ticket/425 ), however I will update the
documentation now on ms4w.com so that others can see the correct steps,
until the next release.
thanks for using MS4W,

Hi all,
I'm working updating to MS4W 5.0 and I ran into an issue enabling FCGI.
The map doesn't load, and when I try to view any of the individual
mapserv requests, I get an 'msLoadConfig(): Unable to access file.' error.
After a bit of digging, it looks like the issue is caused by the (newly
required) ms4w.conf file not being found when fcgi is being used. I
added a line the fcgi IfModule section setting the mapserver config file
location ("FcgidInitialEnv MAPSERVER_CONFIG_FILE "/ms4w/ms4w.conf") and
things seemed to work as expected.
I'm mainly mentioning this because I didn't see this in the ms4w fcgi
documentation so it may be useful to add it as an example in the
<IfModule> block, and I also wanted to make sure there weren't any other
fcgi directives that now needed to be set.
