John,
Thanks for your assistance. You triggered my brain and I think I have the
subform working as a data entry form from a table directly so far. I may have
to change to a query. The only other problem I seem to be experiencing is in
the line entries of the subform. It's placing an additional "blank" line in the
data entry table and I'm wondering if that's because there's an autonumber
field included as an incremental Transaction Number?
While we're at it, after updating the last field of the [data entry] subform,
you must hit the enter key for another line to appear because tabbing out of
that field will move onto another new record. How can I change that action? I
need to be able to add additional lines of products for the same customer.

What is the Record Source of the outer form (the SQL if a query)? What is
the Record Source of the subform (also the SQL, please)? And what are the
settings in the Link Master and Link Child properties of the subform
control?

If the Record Sources are queries, open the query in Design view and choose
SQL View from the View menu to see the SQL.

Editing the field in the subform should trigger the update in the associated
table but that doesn't happen. There are no calculations at this point.

What triggers this update? An event on the outer form? Something the user
does on the subform? Are you trying to calculate something?

Subject: [ms_access] using a subform for data editing

I'm having a problem trying to update a subform field with new data
that will directly update the underlying table. The form shows the
updated field but how do I get it to make the change in the table? I
have attempted to use the "on change" and "after update" to no avail.
Can I do this with a macro? I'm too rusty with VBA...
Thanks,
Doreen
