Matthew- What a fascinating question - I never realized that the Save button is always disabled from the Database window. I thought it might become active on a rename, but not even then. (Right click an object name, choose Rename from the shortcut menu, and type a new name.) I would guess it's there for compatibility with other Office products.

Hi I'm trying to find out when (if ever?) the Save icon becomes enabled in the Database toolbar in Access 2003. I'm trying to explain what each of the icons does on this toolbar, but can't find a situation in which Save becomes activated. Of course, a similar Save button becomes activated on the design toolbars whenever a design changes, but I'm interested specifically in the Database toolbar (i.e. when the Database window is selected). Am I missing something? Could someone shed some light on this? Thanks Matthew -- Matthew Strawbridge http://www.philoxenic.com Bespoke software development and freelance technical copy editing Yahoo!
