Firstly, create a new table - tblPhotoRecord as follows: lngPhotoRecordID autonumber RecordID number (long) PhotoID number (long)
Now open relationships and establish one to many relationships (enforce referenetial integrity) between the Records table and tblPhotoRecord. Third do the same between the photo table and tblPhotoRecord. Finally, create sub-forms, based on tblPhotoRecord, in the forms you use to enter individual record and photo data. Many will no doubt look at this and think "how elementary"... I have a table of 3,400+ first names and last names (plus a lot of other extraneous stuff...addresses, birth dates, etc) (it's a genealogy database). Each name has a unique Record #. I have another table of several hundred photos (fields include unique photo# for every photo, plus date, place taken). Finally, I have a third table with photo format (paper, negative, digital...or any combination). How do I link the Record # (and names); with the photo # (and date, and place); and the photo format(s) together? My goal is to type a Photo # (which would record where/when), a Record # (which would record who), and check any of three format blocks (which would record how) to update my file. Note: A photo may have several Record #s (names) included in the photo. Or, it may have no Record #s (names) included in the photo...which means I would have to add that information. Also, a Record # may be in several photos. On the surface this looked doable. The deeper I got the less doable it seemed. ANY help would be MOST appreciated. Thanks Gary Yahoo!
