It is often the case that by taking the time to write out what the problem
is, you perform a mental step-by-step double-check of your processes.. and
that simple action will remind you of something that you had not previously
thought of. (At least for me!) Can't count how many times I have been in
the process of writing a question to the group and the process of simply
typing out the situation led me to the solution on my own.
Also.. side note: It IS great to have a 'support/knowledge' group that is
helpful and friendly to turn to.. even if the questions and/or solutions
might seem basic to advanced members .. without feeling ridiculed for asking
the question.

Een chapeau to everyone here
Best regards
Susan

Glad you have sorted it out. Sometimes it's really those simple things that
make developers spend sleepless nights!!!

Goodnight - well it's 7:45pm here!

Hi Liveson,
Thanks for the hint. I had already tried that, but with no joy.
However, I did get the query to work ...
It was something soooooo simple...
like duuuuhhhhh...
In the underlying table structure, the Date Field had been set with a text
property. So, of course, access couldn't do anything with dates since it
saw them as text!
So, problem solved
Thanks anyway
Best regards
Susan

Susan

I'm not sure of the structure of your database. However, if the table
contains VAT code, amount paid and date you can simply use the report to
group the payments quarterly. In the report's underlying query you'd filter
the records that match VAT only. You may have to do the grouping in the
report and not in the query.

A clearer explanation of your problem may lead the group members in the
right direction to assist you better.

Subject: [ms_access] Create a query/quarterly/summarize

Hi all,

I am trying to create a query (to create a report) to summarize the VAT paid
by the company per quarter. I did this for the sales database, I thought by
simply using the query wizard (I am NOT an Access whiz..!) but I cannot make
it work with the Purchases database.
Can someone steer me in the right direction?
Thanks
Brgds
Susan
