automatically save the new outer form record. Is the "Enter New Party"
button on the outer form or in the subform? If on the outer form, you might
need to make sure the outer record is saved before opening the new form.
If Me.Dirty Then Me.Dirty = False
In the new form, make sure you save the record before closing and to a
Requery of the subform control back on the main form.

Subject: [ms_access] Issue with subform refresh or requery?
Hi Everyone,
I have a mainform and subform, which is on a tab, after the user
enters a new mainform record they can go to the Party tab which
presents a list of corresponding names associated with the mainform
record.
Here's where I have an issue, After entering a new mainform record
the user enters goes to the party tab (subform) and clicks enter new
party which opens a new screen for the user to enter detailed
information. When this form is closed and they are returned back to
the mainform record the Parties tab (subform) is not refreshed to
reflect the newly added record.
I have tried several attempts to get the party record entered to
reflect but no such luck.
on the main form I set an event on the gotfocus to me.parent.requery
but still no result. However, if the mainform record exists and
they are adding another party it is reflected immediately. It is
only when entering a new mainform record.
If anyone has any ideas please let me know.
Thanks for any assistance.
