Hi there,
I trust you all survived Christmas and are all safe.

I'm sorry this will be long winded as I am not sure how to word my
questions.

In my application I have one customized menu and I wish this to be the only
menu available to the user throughout my application.

At the start of the customized menu is a "tool button" over which I seem to
have no control. When you click on it, a list of "Restore, Move, Size,
Minimize and Close" drops down. I noticed that if I select menus via the
Tools Customize function, this tool button always appears on the left hand
side of the most recently selected menu. This button is there when the
customized menu is the only one displaying.
Is there any way of removing this button?
Is this button included in the CommandIndex count?

In the StartUp dialogue box I have named my customized menu to be the
default application menu. I have also named it in the Menu Bar option of my
main Switchboard form. When the Switchboard form displays in form view there
are a couple of menu items I would like to "gray", but I have noticed that
when I launch my application, the Built In Menu displays until the Custom
menu "takes over".
I have tried to establish exactly in which event the Custom menu takes over
by inserting Messages in various events procedures and it seems that it
happens after On Current. The Switchboard is an unbound form and I'm not
sure where to go from there. If I have a
DoCmd.SetMenuItem 0, 1, , acMenuGray in the On Current event procedure I get
a message (sorry I did not write it down) "cannot use SetMenuItem on a Built
In menu command). I understand this because at this stage the Built In menu
is displaying. If I use DoCmd.SetMenuItem 0, 1, , acMenuGray anywhere else,
I either get the message "The SetMenuAction does not have enough information
to be carried out" or I get no message and it was not carried out.

I have tried using a series of DoCmd.SetMenuItem x, x, x, acMenuGray
followed by messages so that I can identify which menu items are being
grayed with which set of MenuIndex, CommandIndex and SubcommandIndex but
none of them seem to work.

Basically my customized menu has
"that tool button" File Edit View Records
and Records has Filter
                         Sort
                         etc

I wish to gray "Sort"
I guess all this boils down to what command to I put where?

Thank you in anticipation
