I fixed it. Whoo Hoo !!! 
I went to Microsoft Knowledge Base and found my solution.
I did a 
Tools 
Customize 
selected Menu Bar
Properties
Restore Defaults
and Viola! all is back to normal.
Sorry to have bothered you with this, but I was desparate.
