Open your database. On the Tools menu select Options. Under Advanced tab
select Exclusive on Default Open Mode.

You can also set Exclusive mode on startup. On the Desktop you can type the
following

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office[version]\msaccess.exe" "C:\[your
database path]" /Excl

Office 2002 is version 10

Office 2003 is version 11

Office 2007 is version 12

For example if you are using Office 2007 then you'd write "C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\msaccess.exe" "C:\[your database path]"
/Excl

Subject: [ms_access] Exclusive Access

I have a form in a local database with a button that imports a table from
another database and creates a table in the current database. After I click
the button if I try to go to design view to edit the form I get the message
"You do not have exclusive access to the database at this time. If you
proceed to make changes, you may not be able to save them later." Each time
I run the procedure, which works, I have to close and reopen the database.
Any ideas why this is happening?
