Looks good! Go! Go! Go!
Correct import of 1.X scores is not optional though. Considering them as
always above-staff is OK for a start.

Agree, for a second pass. I would not make it a default in MuseScore. But
it will be included in Text Style I assume.
A way to change the text style of several text elements in the inspector,
would be nice.

I disagree that lyrics shouldn't automatically allocate vertical space. In
most case, users are really happy with it.
Lyrics should allocate vertical space and in the future other elements
should too, including chordnames.
So I would not remove this feature. Lyrics on top of the staff should also
allocate vertical space. I don't think it should be "defeatable" either, at
least not with a simple switch. Lyrics top and bottom margins should work
here.

1/ It's in Style, next to the margins. It will affect the spacing of verses.
2/ Indeed. It's probably for another discussion here or on the forum. We
miss a dialog to display this parameter. It's the reason why I liked the
spacer approach (spacer can be modified in inspector) more than the simple
drag and drop of a staff. Especially without any modifier.
