First, the qt5 branch now also compile and run on Mac OSX :)

Then, to answer Marc's questions.
1/ It's the latest and greatest and it's the future. We will use Qt5.0 as
long as it's the current stable version. But Qt 5.1 will be there soon. Qt
5.1 beta has release a couple of days ago.
http://blog.qt.digia.com/blog/2013/05/14/qt-5-1-beta-released/
2/ There are some nice new small features. For example, I just find out
that native full screen is working on Mac OSX out of the box.
3/ There are improvements in performances
4/ The plugin framework will be able to move to QML2 aka Qt Quick 2 and
will benefit from the V8 engine. Also UI should be easier to do thanks to
Qt Quick Desktop components
http://blog.qt.digia.com/blog/2012/06/06/desktop-components-for-qt-5/
5/ Starting with Qt5.1, QML2 could be used in other parts of the UI. For
example the Zita reverb effect UI is QML based. With QML2 being faster, we
can imagine having more parts of the software built with it.

On Windows, it will be indeed easier to setup a Qt5 environment than a Qt4
one because the Qt5 distribution is already compiled with GCC 4.7 and MinGW
with GCC 4.7 is included with the distribution. So cut everything about
installing MinGW and just install Qt5 from http://qt-project.org/downloads and
you should be ok to run.
