Maybe, on some distributions. But a 32bit user won't be able to run a 64bit
app at all.

I'm pretty sure that it's not as easy than on Windows. A user of a linux 64
bits Linux will have to install 32bit libraries to make it work eventually.

Are you really sure about this?
See for example

-bit-edition-of-ubuntu-linux/
Some (older ?) 64bit distros may need 32bit apps to be statically linked,
but esp. for nightly builds that should be done anyway, shouldn't it?

Well, I don't see any benefit in a 64bit build (except that it might be
easier to build for you, of course ;-), it'd just exclude all those who are
(still?) on a 32bit Linux, while those on a 64bit Linux could happily live
with a 32bit build.
Unfortunately what is correct on windows is not on Linux. A 32 bit binary
will not run on a linux 64bit linux system AFAIK. So we really need two
packages if we want to serve both.
