I am Computer Science major about to enter his final year. My real name is Craig Fisher, and seeing as other applicants have created accounts with their real names, I'll do the same.
I have plenty of experience with C++. Qt is new to me, but I've worked with Android, ROS, and other sizable frameworks before. Musically, I play guitar (folk, gypsy jazz, rock & pop) and sing in the choir. Although I don't read music terribly well, I've used MuseScore for experimenting with rhythms and melodic ideas (I also have tons of fun watching classical pieces play back). I'm pleased to see "Alternate notation styles for specified ranges" is listed in the ideas list. This is a major priority for me. As a guitar player who doesn't major in music, I'm coming from a world of lead sheets, slash notation, tabs, and the good old fashioned ear. I've also dabbled in alternatives to standard notation, but there's currently no practical way to try them out. /Proposal:/ I'm imagining a UI where the user can select or create a notation scheme -- whether slash notation, JianPu, or something entirely new -- and then continue working with their notation without having to re-apply it (like we have to with plugins). Ideally, I want this feature to be flexible enough to allow many notation schemes, but I also realize it can't be "infinitely flexible". The line needs to be drawn somewhere (no pun intended). Before I write my GSOC application, I would like to discuss where to draw it. -- View this message in context: http://dev-list.musescore.org/GSOC-Proposal-tp7578658.html Sent from the MuseScore Developer mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Learn Graph Databases - Download FREE O'Reilly Book "Graph Databases" is the definitive new guide to graph databases and their applications.
