Hi Fedor,
OMR is of course useful for many users of a music notation software like
MuseScore. However, I'm pretty sure implementing an OMR engine can't be
done in 3 months. One of the only working open source OMR is Audiveris
http://audiveris.org and it's in development since many years now.
The idea you are referring to http://musescore.org/en/node/37856#OMR is
about a very simple OMR to get the number of measures per line, the number
of staves and the space between two lines of a staff in order to ease the
transcription process.
