Forgive me for asking, but in which MuseScore version is this possible? some
2.0.3 newer nightly build revision? I have MuseScore 2.0.3 revision 3c7a69d
installed both in Windows 7/XP and KXStudio (Linux) and I can't see any
option in "Preferences > Score" related with the activation/deactivation of
MIDI ports/channels. The only fields I see in "Preferences > Score" are
"Default Files" (with sub-fields "Instrument List 1", "Instrument list 2",
"Style" and "Style for Part") and View (with sub-field "Default Zoom"). Am I
missing something?

And, actually, PR 1083 seems to have been closed and reopened as PR 2126
(https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/2126), named "Assigning MIDI
port/channel to instruments", which you merged on Oct 28th, 2015.

PR 2128 (https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/2128), named "Listening
to MIDI Machine Control messages", is still open and not merged, although
with "[welcome for testing]" attached to the name, and was labeled as "work
in progress" by wschweer, on Oct 28th, 2015. In the description, igevorse
states that: "For now MuseScore is able to listen to this messages, not send
them", but maybe, with little effort, the function of sending could also be
possible.

Best regards!
