Hi,
it is been a while since this matter had been discussed on this list but
currently I'm working on something that covers part of the things that
are discussed here.

I have a blog post which explains some things here:
https://musescore.org/en/user/527826/blog/2016/07/17/weekly-status-update-july-5th-17th

Basically I want to implement a "soundbank.xml" that provides some
settings for generating the midi (I think it won't go as deep as
discussed here - and it is not an abstraction layer but more a sound
configuration). I made up a simple example file here:
https://github.com/hpfmn/MuseScore/blob/89e6a5709aa7372ec0153bcc5e57725988530c36/mtest/libmscore/soundbank/soundbank.xml

I think adding midi notes to MidiActions is also something that
shouldn't be to hard and that would support some of the key switches of
commercial synths!

Please let me hear what you think and things you would like to see
implemented!

Kind regards,
Johannes
