Indeed. This is my biggest issue with GDB. It was something I used very often in Delphi and Kylix. As a work around, I had to develop other ways of debugging.. eg: using log files, a Live Log Viewer application running on the side etc. Still not nearly as convenient as what Delphi and Kylix allowed though.
