Did you switch the top-right "encoding" combobox to UTF-8? WIPFC, the open source OpenWatcom IPF Compiler I use, doesn't have an option for setting the UTF-8 encoding in the INF file header yet. Thus DocView can't switch to it automatically, like it can for other encodings. For this reason I did add in the startup help topic of the fpc_lang_ref.inf file — in red text — "Please switch DocView to using the UTF-8 text encoding for this document". You also should have a Unicode font selected, which contains the line drawing characters. Most TTF fonts I tried seem to be okay, but there are the odd exceptions as always. I personally use "Verdana-9" and "Courier New-10".
