Martin,

I'm in   the process of updating the download packages and had the 
following thought.

If at mseide startup time and the mseidexx.sta file does not exist could 
you possibly set the ${MSEDIR} variable by looking at the
paramstr (0) entry and backing up to inspect the folder structure?

If you find the apps/ide and lib/common folders then you have the msedir 
root.
