No problem, we are just trying to help.

Only repository services like GitHub, Gitorious etc prefer that users
don't type in a username and password - simply because it is insecure.
So they opt for using SSH keys to do the secure authentication for you.
Good news is, once it is setup, you never need to type a username and
password again.

As for offline usage.... Git is a perfect tool for you then, as most of
the git commands are all local commands (don't require network access).
The only time you would require internet access is when you do a 'git
push' or 'git fetch'. Those could be left for a time that is convenient
for you. Once a day, once a week etc.

Archive releases can be uploaded via the web interface of various
services. Some sites like SourceForge allows you to upload via FTP as
well. I guess the only saving grace here is that that Delphi and FPC
executable are pretty small (if compiler opimisation was enabled and
debug info stripped). Plus they normally don't require runtime libraries
like QT, MSVCRT*.dll's etc. Plus fpGUI and MSEgui based apps are even
smaller than LCL based ones. ;-)

Not at all, Martin and I are just trying to help you setup an
environment that is easier to use in the long run. Many developers
struggle at first with Git or setting up repositories. Once they grasp
the idea and workflow, it all falls into place.

The free "Pro Git" book I mentioned before is very good at explaining
things. Even though I have used Git since 2009, I'm reading that book
now too - simply to see what I don't know, or what has improved compared
to the way I currently work. I've already learned a few new tricks in
Chapter 5 I didn't know about. :)
