So first open your template and then 'Project'-'New'-'From Program' (not
tested).
This did not work for me.
I was wrong, 'Project'-'New'-'From Program' does not use the settings of the
current project but an empty project as base.
But it was easier to fix than I thought. Simply
create a project from one of my templates. Save the project. Change the
name of the unit which is the program unit, change output target name.
Done! :-)

If 'Project'-'Options'-Make'-'Mainfile' is "${PROJECTNAME}.xxx"
and 'Targetfile' = "${PROJECTNAME}${EXEEXT}" the filenames can be unchanged.
It is also possible to use 'Project'-'Save as' followed by 'File'-'Close
all'.
I'll try to change 'Project'-'New'-'From Program' to use the current project
settings.
