It has been fixed in the mean time in Gnome 3: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=786363 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=786365 and should be fixed in Cinnamon and Mate too. Note that they have different window managers. I tried to submit Mint bug reports but got no reaction from Mint people.
