I just confirmed that my number 1 below, is being triggered even though the site is not accessible.
I was hoping that 'response time' would be set to a high number at failure. ☺ (maybe it is just set to whatever the timeout is, even if the final result is failure.) Jorgie From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Jorgensen, Erik Sent: Friday, May 17, 2013 1:57 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [msmom] Web Application test for failure I am setting up some Web Application objects in SCOM and I was wondering what is the best metric when you want a failure? For example, I do not want the management interface on my Google Search boxes available via the load balanced DNS ‘gsvip.domain.com’ but I do want to make sure it is available on each node ‘gs1.domain.com’ and ‘gs2.domain.com’ directly. I have the following tests to meet this need: 1. https://gsvip.domain.com:8443 Error if ‘response time’ ‘is less than’ ‘999 seconds’ 2. https://gs1.domain.com:8443 https://gs2.domain.com:8443 Error if ‘HTTP Result’ ‘is greater than or equal to’ ‘400’ Error if ‘response time’ ‘is greater than’ ‘30 seconds’ Warning if ‘response time’ ‘is greater than’ ‘10 seconds’ So my question is, is there a better way to make sure a site is NOT available other than checking the response time?
