David,

Thanks for the response! I had not used the dbcreatewizard in so long I was not
even sure it was still there :-).  Thanks again

Albert

Dear Albert,

You can use 2 ways to create the database:
·         Using the normal SCOM setup wizard
·         Using dbcreatewizard

Kevin wrote a blog about both possibilities:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinholman/archive/2008/05/03/dbcreatewizard-or-just-run-good-old-setupom-exe-which-should-i-use-to-install-the-database-component-of-opsmgr.aspx

Whenever I’m with a customer where the SQL team asks to configure the database
in front, I tend to propose to use the dbcreatewizard method. It is a low
impact wizard that executes rather fast. It only creates the database with some
security settings, tables and basic information in it. You can easily create a
procedure in a dev environment that can be executed by another team (e.g. the
SQL team) in other environments.

Subject: [msmom] SCOM DB

Hi All,

is there a way to use an existing Database for a management group?  My SQL team
wants to configure somethings up front for the database architecture, but it
seems the setup process only wants to allow the creation of a new DB from the
setup wizard.

Thanks
Al
