We do this sometimes via script but I always warn against it because it takes
resources to open the file and search for the string. If there is any other
way to monitor for the error I would say try that first.

Built-in rule module can accomplish that very easy. I've done a few.

Just search for scom log monitoring.

So I have a possible requirement to monitor a text log file for a specific text
string. Anyone have any handy blog posts the can link for approaches? I am
starting to look at the docs/blog searches now 😊

So far for this specific application I have heard it’s touchy as heck and other
attempts to read the log have crashed the program so I am just looking around
at approaches since I haven’t had occasion to monitor a text file before.
