All I got is this: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/kevinholman/2009/06/19/using-a-generic-text-log-rule-to-monitor-an-ascii-text-file-even-when-the-file-is-a-unc-path/
(but don’t use the UNC thing if possible) ☺ I know that NICE came out with some Free MP’s that make log file monitoring better: http://www.nice.de/log-file-monitoring-scom-nice-logfile-mp From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Steven Peck Sent: Wednesday, November 16, 2016 12:04 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [msmom] Text file monitoring So I have a possible requirement to monitor a text log file for a specific text string. Anyone have any handy blog posts the can link for approaches? I am starting to look at the docs/blog searches now 😊 So far for this specific application I have heard it’s touchy as heck and other attempts to read the log have crashed the program so I am just looking around at approaches since I haven’t had occasion to monitor a text file before.
