Hm, since there may be use cases of SOCKS beside Tor, it should be
possible to use a host name that requires resolving as proxy, so I
don't think we can set AI_NUMERICHOST.

Maybe we can add a clear warning to the documentation for everyone who
wishes to use SOCKS with Tor?
