My earlier thought was suggest maybe including something from
a group that is generally not known to produce said crap/cleanup
and had a universally compatible license. If that would work better?

Yeah, I was working folding it into the make system first, and
pointing out small lint, as far as I got in five minutes available.
That's the way I'll test some of it on localhost it when it's ready.
