I took a bit of a peek around fleabay, but most of it was either offshore with painful shipping, insanely priced, some vintage LSI card that certainly won't cope with large drives or an Adaptec RAID controller with a Sun logo. Bah-humbug.

I might just have to grab some large drives and test the LSI controllers I have under load to make sure they don't explode.

Heya Andre,I'd be inclined to get the Sun/orace branded ones off ebay... they are pretty cheap if you snipe a good deal. I can say that the hp p400/440 etc aren't much chop these days since HP stopped trying to maintain any level of Solaris certification. As far as lsi vs anything else, meh. There have been reports of some issues here and there, but they were usually patch or firmware specific... mine go ok (though they should... they are in things like x4270m2 / 7110 type boxes.)Cheers, Nathan.Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

Solaris 11/x86 -- SAS controller recommendations? Does anyone care to recommend SAS
controllers for Solaris 11 x86? I've been getting away with Dell PERC H310s in the past,
but apparently there are some problems with dealing with larger SATA drives (e.g.,
8TB).-- Andre van Eyssen.                  Phone:     +61 417 211 788mail:
