Speaking for myself, I'm quite happy with 3.0. I've written and tested about 32000 bytes of generated code over the last couple of months with no detected compiler problems. I am not using any floating point or dynamic memory allocation. The JTAG interface (pyjtag, and rproxy) have been a little frustrating to use (pyjtag often failed to load my code, and rproxy/gdb was really slow when loading code) but the problem has been adequately addressed by recent improvements to pyjtag.
I say, go for it. Hats off to the developers, and many many thanks!

to move back over. I've been using 3.0 with pretty good luck. I'm
wondering if I should switch to the latest releases. What concerns me is I
still see a lot of bug fixes going by. When we get back into this, the time
constraints of the project don't allow for debugging the tool chain.

My question is: Are the latest releases ready for prime-time? Or are
they
still developmental enough that I should stay away from them for a few more
months? And if not, what release are best served by?

reflection
on Dmitry and crew. I know it required a lot of work to switch the compiler
code base over, and it's still being fine tuned. These guys have done a
helluva lot of good work, and I appreciate that. This is more asking an
opinion is the whole toolchain, along with the MSP430 side, ready for use
for a project that won't have time built in to trouble shoot the toolchain.)
