Hi,

i get the error message:

error: msp430:Could not access device - security fuse is blown (30)

from gdb-proxy intermittently. I downloaded and installed msp-gcc
just last week so I've got the latest versions. I'm using the
MSP430-449STK2 <http://www.olimex.com/dev/msp-449stk2.html> kit from
Olimex. I'm not providing an external power supply to avoid the
problems associated with the JTAG interface having different levels
to the rest of the board.

are you sure your JTAG adapters supply is strong enough? the parallel port adapter can only deliver a few milliamps and some PCs (especialy laptops) have not the standard 5V output but a lower voltage, which makes the situation worse.

i usualy have no problems with the onboard supply + JTAG supply, but then i only use boards with onboard 3V and a 3V JTAG adapter and the JTAGs supply has a series schottky diode.

it seems to be important that the logic levels of the JTAG adapters signals match the VCC of the MSP430, so having a separate supply can cause trouble...

As I said I see the problem every now and then. I just wondered if
someone knows what it's about?

Thanks for any info, Martin.
