I've been wondering whether the move to gcc 4.x was going to be coming soon, especially as you haven't been following the later 3.x lines. There are a fair number of interesting improvements in gcc 4.x, such as inter-procedural optomisations and unit-at-a-time compiling, which (if I understand them correctly) can give you lots of optomisation oportunities for free. I'm looking forward to trying the gcc 4.0 (or 4.1?) port! Thanks for all your efforts.
