Brian,

I just tried the reboot suggestion. It had no affect.

I'm interested in the reset switch option. Do you have any information on how to wire it in?

Thanks for the help,

I'm a long time user of the MSP430 tool chain currently running under
Fedora Core-5

I've been experiencing a lock up problem with the parallel port FET
tool. It works well for long periods of time, but occasionally it gets
stuck in a mode where neither msp430-jtag.py nor msp430-gdbproxy will
work.
msp430-gdbproxy gives the error "Could not find device (or device not
supported)"

and msp430-jtag.py gives the error "An error occured:" "Can't open
interface"

Normally both these tools work fine. However once the condition occurs,
the only way I am able to clear it is to disconnect all cables and power
from both the FET tool and from the target device. This is not normally
a big deal, except that I have been working remotely of late, and I
don't have physical access to the target and the FET.

Does anyone know of a way to clear this condition remotely? Or, is
there a way to prevent it from occurring?

Does a reboot have any effect? It may be possible that the system's
printer driver is causing problems, but you have probably already
disabled that.

I think some people have added a reset button to their FET tools for
this same reason, although I have never had any problems with mine.

Brian
