I'm a long time user of the MSP430 tool chain currently running under Fedora Core-5

I've been experiencing a lock up problem with the parallel port FET tool. It works well for long periods of time, but occasionally it gets stuck in a mode where neither msp430-jtag.py nor msp430-gdbproxy will work. msp430-gdbproxy gives the error "Could not find device (or device not supported)"

and msp430-jtag.py gives the error "An error occured:" "Can't open interface"

Normally both these tools work fine. However once the condition occurs, the only way I am able to clear it is to disconnect all cables and power from both the FET tool and from the target device. This is not normally a big deal, except that I have been working remotely of late, and I don't have physical access to the target and the FET.

Does anyone know of a way to clear this condition remotely? Or, is there a way to prevent it from occurring?

Many Thanks,
