I have been using mspgcc and mspdebug for a while now, but just just got an EZ430-F2013 dev stick and would like to use it. Unfortunately I am having trouble configuring my system to work with it.
The first time it was plugged in, it worked fine and I was able to program my msp, but unplugging and replugging it seems to confuse it. ttyUSB0 does appear in /dev when it is plugged in. I have also repeated this on 2 machines. Removing the modules, or restarting does not bring it back to life. Trying to run mspdebug gives me the error message: mspdebug -d /dev/ttyUSB0 uif Trying to open UIF on /dev/ttyUSB0... Initializing FET... uif: read error: Connection timed out fet: open failed Reading the dmesg I get the following output when the device is plugged in: usb 3-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5 usb 3-2: New USB device found, idVendor=0451, idProduct=f430 usb 3-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 usb 3-2: Product: MSP-FET430UIF JTAG Tool usb 3-2: Manufacturer: Texas Instruments usb 3-2: SerialNumber: TUSB34101E5685D8D755FFC3 ti_usb_3410_5052 3-2:1.0: TI USB 3410 1 port adapter converter detected ti_usb_3410_5052: probe of 3-2:1.0 failed with error -5 ti_usb_3410_5052 3-2:2.0: TI USB 3410 1 port adapter converter detected usb 3-2: TI USB 3410 1 port adapter converter now attached to ttyUSB0 lsusb output is: Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 001 Device 002: ID 413c:3016 Dell Computer Corp. MSP-FET430UIF JTAG Tool I am running gentoo kernel 2.6.37-gentoo-r4, and also tried kernel linux-2.6.36-gentoo-r8. I realise many similar questions have been asked with regards to the EZ430, but I can not seem to find the solution I need. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ WhatsUp Gold - Download Free Network Management Software The most intuitive, comprehensive, and cost-effective network management toolset available today.
