As you mentioned in your reply in e2e, it is much more easy to use the built in boost library of the distribution and link it dynamically. So the question is: Is there any known problem on any distribution which will force the usage of the local built static linked library? As I did some testing with OpenSuse and the solution with the distribution RPM (boost-dev) works fine for me on a 64 bit AMD and a 32 bit Intel machine.
