Rod, I do a lot of my testing on my laptop. I have a nice HyperV lab with my
whole SCCM infrastructure on it for testing (32GB of Ram, 500GB SSD Drive). I
used to fly around a lot and would do testing on the plane for example. How do
you do that when I need to spin up a Windows Azure VM to host my whole
infrastructure with no access to Azure since I'm 30k feet in the air ? :)

Below is what I have running on my laptop

CAS
Remote SQL (CAS)
Primary (XYZ)
Remote SQL (XYZ)
Remote MP_SUP (XYZ)
Remote DP (XYZ)
Primary (123) - SQL, MP, SUP, DP all on same box
Remote MP_SUP (XYZ) - Untrusted Forest

How do I get that with any of the offerings MS has now?

I don't really need to worry about it too much now since I can get all of this
from corporate licenses, but what about the consultants out there who can't get
this from their company? I think it's a bad move on MS part to alienate all
the consultants out there who used Technet just for what I described above.

Thank you.

Not really, when you think about it. TechNet was used more for downloading
software than any of the other benefits. You can spin-up a Windows Azure VM
and test the same software now. No reason to have it on-premise for testing.
Plus, the other options they are offering as replacements are all free.

They are keeping MSDN, though (for a while), so you can subscribe to that if
you want to download bits.

This is pretty terrible, TechNet yearly subscription was great.
