Hi,

About 2 weeks ago I noticed looking at the client operations that all
operations were in an unknown state, I then did a quick test on an active
computer by right clicking from the console then "client notification -->
Download computer policy" and the notification prompt showed that the client
selected was not online.

Our infrastructure consist of a Primary site server running Windows 2008 R2 and
SCCM 2012 SP1 CU2, the site server DB is on a standalone server running Windows
2008 R2 with SQL 2012 SP1, the only other role installed on the site db is the
FSP and Reporting service point. Primary computer account is local admin on the
sql box and full admin on the db itself.

Looking at the log file on the site server I noticed these errors

Bgbserver.log
ERROR: The queue for BGB server doesn't exist.
ERROR: BGB queue is not setup yet.

Bgbmgr.log
SQL MESSAGE: spLogEntry - ERROR: Cannot find server ID for server
abcd.whatever.com
ERROR: There are some error while processing sql
ERROR: Failed to execute task class OnlineStatusProcessTask

Also the bgb.box had like over 2000 bos file in the bad folder, I googled these
errors but couldn't actually find anything, I then decided to get a support
ticket open with Microsoft, 30 minutes later started working with the support
guy. The bgb server is actually a component of the MP so we first tried to
uninstalled the MP and reinstalled it, 15 minutes later same errors in the log
files. The Microsoft support guy then recommended that I open a new ticket
since we would have to get the SQL team involved.

While waiting for the second call to happen I decided to try something,
uninstalled the MP from the site server and reinstalled the MP on the site
server DB, well guess what no more errors on any log files, I then ran the
following query on the db and saw the list of online client starting to grown.

select B.ServerName, A.OnlineClients as 'Online Clients' from Bgb_Server B left
join dbo.v_BgbServerCurrent A on A.ServerID=B.ServerID order by 2

As we speak everything has been working, no more errors in any of the log
files, all bos files are being processed successfully, if I right click on any
computer from the console the client notification is now showing all systems as
being online :)

My question is, is there anyone that run the same kind of configuration that
actually got the client notification running while having the MP installed on
the site server? I have a second stand alone primary for all our global
clients, the setup is exactly the same and I am facing the exact same issue.
This one is a bit more complicated since the network is blocked to most sites,
changing the MP to the DB server would require some network modification.

Thanks
