Follow up: Installing the msi upgrades the server, seems also SQL.

Additionally installing the console update (msp) takes care of the server in
total.

So, for the server two msiexec seem to work ok.

Just the packages for upgrades other than the site server, would only be
created using the setup.

I'll try that. I was expecting the kb.exe to have switches, but maybe it is
just the setup.exe

Here's what I'm seeing in 7-Zip for Cumulative Update #2 for Configuration
Manager 2012 with Service Pack 1. Can you call updatesetup.exe with /? to
see if it has built-in help?

Cheers,

Did that, well just start it and look into the extraction folder, found
setup.exe (large) and one MSI in there.

Hm, maybe the setup.exe also extracts?

I don't have it in front of me at the moment, but I believe you can extract
the appropriate bits with 7-Zip, from the CU2 download, and make it silent
that way. They should be MSI or MSP files, if I recall correctly.

Is there a way?

It doesn't show parameters (with /?) and I couldn't find anything online
yet.
