As usual, it depends. If the client computer is configured in distributed
cache mode, then it will perform a content discovery on the local subnet. If
the client is configured in hosted cache mode, I believe it will go to the
configured hosted cache server for content.

theoretically it would be possible to use a DCM rule to enable and disable
branch cache on machines as they went to and left a particular site?

 

What would the affect be of turning it on at a small site then the laptop
goes to a larger site? any idea?

I am unable to locate a good doc for branch cache GPO for CM12. Does anyone
have a link to a good doc?
