Bios to me is like drivers, done during staging. Outside staging I'd only do if there is a real need or tangible benefit.
Bios and drivers are the main influencers of blue screens, I need a very good reason to run that risk. A lot of customers prefer to only do it during the imaging process. I am fine with that but if you can be thorough enough to test and are capable of supporting your users I would pro-actively keep the bios up to date on all systems.
